From Logistics to CEO!

“Sears CEO Departs”

In a letter to employees, Chairman Edward S. Lampert said a restructuring of the company into five autonomous units announced earlier this month would “allow us to attract talented executives who are eager to take on the challenges of running their own businesses.”

W. Bruce Johnson, the 56-year-old head of Logistics and Operations, was yesterday named interim CEO of Sears. A company spokesman said it wasn’t clear if Mr. Johnson, an executive vice-president and the third highest-paid executive at the firm in 2006,would be a candidate for the permanent job. Before joining Kmart in 2003, he was an executive at French Retailer Carrefour SA. (Wall Street Journal, January 2008)

Competing Against the Best!

In the issue of INBOUND LOGISTICS (Feb ’07) they named 25 Schools across the U.S. as “Smart Choices”, academically and professionally, for individuals seeking advanced educational competency in Logistics and Supply Chain, in order to excel in their careers.

The Schools which were identified included 24 “big name” Universities such as Carnegie-Mellon, MIT, Georgia Tech, and Michigan State etc., plus the Institute of Logistical Management.

Please click on the link below to view article in INBOUND LOGISTICS, specifically referencing ILM. To see the entire article, go to http://www.inboundlogistics.com/articles/features/0207_feature01.shtml.

We are extremely honored to be included along with 24 prestigious Universities in the article.

ILM Receives NATIONAL REACCREDITATION We have been notified by the Executive Director of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) that ILM has been Reaccredited for 5 more years. DETC is the only Distance Learning Accrediting Commission that is recognized by the Secretary of Education of the United States. Only 30% of the Schools who initially apply for Accreditation or reaccredidation pass. 70% never pass. We passed UNCONDITIONALLY this year. We are pleased to let you know this because without your support it would never have happened. Thank you sincerely, one and all. Frank R. Breslin, Dean
